235 West Van Buren

THE ARCHITECTS AT PERKINS + WILL KNEW FROM THE BEGINNING THAT PERFORATED, OVERHANGING RAILING WAS A MUST ON 235 WEST VAN BUREN.

It was essential to the design that each balcony was surface-mounted to cover the concrete slab and provide a finished, clean look. Sterling Dula’s estimators, engineering team and project managers successfully materialized the architect’s vision and saw it through to installation. Beyond the many perforated panel balconies, 235 West Van Buren’s rooftop terrace also included our standard Chesterfield glass railing.

Two-thirty-five West Van Buren is a mixed-use facility, completed in January 2010. It features 714 condominium units plus 10,000 square feet of retail space.

The building has received numerous awards including:

• Distinguished Building Award, Citation of Merit (American Institute of Architects, Chicago Chapter)
• Miles van der Rohe Award, Special Recognition (American Institute of Architects Illinois)
• Louis Sullivan Award, Top Honor (American Institute of Architects Illinois)
