Cook County Jail

KANE DETENTION STEPPED IN TO HELP COOK COUNTY JAIL IMPROVE THEIR EFFICIENCY.

Chicago’s Cook County Jail, the largest, single-site jail in the country, utilized Kane Detention’s Vantage Wall Barriers in the sally port and outdoor recreation areas of their new facility. Our products provided both safety and separation as inmates transitioned between all stages – from drop-off to classification – throughout their Residential Treatment Unit (RTU) and Reception Classification Diagnostic Center (RCDC).

Approximately 1,300 SF of Vantage Wall and 8,000 SF of Vantage Wall Plus were used on the project.  The latter product differs from typical barriers in its unique, double-layer design.  A stainless steel wire cloth with woven rod overlay aids in the prevention of contraband transfer, and completely eliminates the issue of escape via climbing.

The five-story RTU-RCDC was specifically created to control the abundance of foot traffic into the receiving area of the Cook County Jail. It now serves as the central area for holding and transferring roughly 1500 male and female detainees.
