THE FAIRFIELD COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE WAS LONG OVERDUE FOR A LARGER, MORE SECURE FACILITY.

Officials in Lancaster, Ohio had discussed the need for a new jail over two decades prior to the commissioners’ final approval of the project in 2013.  Now completed and fully operational, the new Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office replaces three, separate outdated jail facilities, one of which was leased from the state in 2011 to alleviate overcrowding issues.

Prior to construction, Kane Innovations’ Kane Detention brand estimators and engineers worked closely with detention equipment contractor, Pauly Jail Building Company (PJBC), on the scope of work for interior physical security.  Kane provided 166 Vantage Wall Mezzanine Barriers that PJBC later installed around a number of common areas within the facility.

The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office includes 384 beds,149 security cameras, workspace for 150 employees, a sally port to escort men and women through the booking area into one- and two-inmate cells, and designated zones for inmates to attend counseling, classes, and programs.  Centrally-located control rooms were configured to allow deputies the ability to monitor activities inside the dormitory-style living quarters.

Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office is a maximum level security jail with an estimated daily population of 175 male prisoners and 61 female prisoners.
