Sterling Dula Brand Railing to be Installed on ‘Tallest Residential Tower West of the Mississippi’
ERIE, Pennsylvania – February 24, 2016 – Architects tasked with designing The Independent, a multi-family residential skyscraper in downtown Austin, Texas, have declared Sterling Dula the railing manufacturer and installer of choice for their latest apartment project. Once completed, The Independent will be the tallest residential tower west of the Mississippi River, complete with two amenities decks and expansive private balconies.
After recently completing work with Kane on another Austin project (805 Nueces/Aspen Heights) Rhode Partners again reached out to Kane Innovations’ Sterling Dula brand railing experts for assistance with creating a sleek, secure handrail solution for their new, 58-story masterpiece.
Sterling Dula’s three-line Chesterfield glass railing was the system selected for all 372 balconies, along with a structural glass railing option which will line the perimeter of the ninth floor amenities area. This outdoor multi-purpose space is the true highlight of the building with a layout that includes an infinity pool, an outdoor lounge and a kitchen. The aluminum components of all systems will be finished with a powder coat paint for maximum durability. In total, nearly 6,000 lft of Sterling Dula architectural railing will be installed on the soaring high rise.
General contracting company, Balfour Beatty, is spearheading the assignment, which is valued at more than $300 million. The Independent – now under construction – is also referred to as the “Jenga Tower” in the construction community, due to its resemblance to the popular stacking game of the same name.
The project is slated for a 2018 completion.
