KICK-OFF: Kane Innovations to Complete Texas Railing Project in Time for Superbowl LI
ERIE, Pennsylvania – August 11, 2016 – Marriott Marquis, the latest addition to the Houston, Texas skyline, will feature 844 feet of Sterling Dula brand railing from Kane Innovations, Inc. on the second-floor balcony and the sixth-floor amenity deck, also known as “Parkview Terrace”. Balfour Beatty and Welbro, a joint venture, selected Sterling Dula to manufacture and install the 1/2″ tempered-laminated, Chesterfield-style railing on the 30-story structure. The highly-anticipated project will be completed in time for the fifty-first Super Bowl, hosted at Houston’s NRG Stadium on February 5, 2017.
Apart from its luxurious accommodations, the Marriott Marquis also includes an extremely unique attraction on Parkview Terrace, aptly named “Texas Sky River”; a lazy river ride that traces the outline of the state of Texas. An infinity pool, seating areas and other guest conveniences are located nearby, atop the 64,000-square-foot outdoor area.
The railing concept originated with Morris Architects, however, slight changes were requested prior to fabrication to include posts on the 52″ railing system. Likewise, Kane Innovations and the Sterling Dula team presented general contractors Balfour Beatty and Welbro with an acceptable pricing structure and option for expediting, that ultimately resulted in the railing project moving forward with Sterling at the helm.
A climate-controlled skybridge will connect the new hotel to the George R. Brown Convention Center. Both the convention center and hotel are just a quick METROrail ride away from Houston’s theater district, upscale shopping area and bustling nightlife scene.
The Marriott Marquis is slated for a winter completion. The Texas Sky River attraction is expected to be captured in aerial footage of the Houston skyline, during next year’s big game.
